Most natural products need to be disinfected, pasteurized or sterilized and while several methods exist to treat these products, such as irradiation, ethylene oxide, ozone and UV, the only internationally recognized and accepted natural method is the "Organic Sterilization System (OSS)”, which efficiently steams and vacuum seals the products.

Our products

The new food safety laws are increasingly demanding when it comes to acceptable microbiological levels and even ban certain sterilization methods.

• Laws on food security and food safety in almost all countries, including Peru, are increasingly demanding when it comes to acceptable microbial levels for nutritional supplements, natural products, condiments, spices and/or prepared or ‘unprepared’ foods in general.

• The current microbial requirements governing nutritional supplements and medicinal plants are as follows:

• Countries such as Japan (Law SHOKUHIN EISEI No. 11, Date of Enactment: December 1959, No.370) and soon the United States of America (Law 21 CFR part 111) prohibit the use of irradiation and ethylene oxide (ETO) as sterilization methods for a number of products, such as nutritional supplements and natural products. Other countries, including the European Community, are currently reviewing similar requirements.

• Consumers worldwide are changing their habits and taking the time to learn more about the processes that went into elaborating their food. Nowadays, they are opting for natural, organic, certified, or pesticide-free products that are exempt from sterilization processes, such as irradiation or ETO.

Microbial decontamination preserves the sensory characteristics of the product.

The Organic Sterilization System (OSS) ‘treats’ the product by submitting it to changes in pressure and temperature within a vacuum chamber.

There are 3 phases to this process:

PREPARATION

Air is extracted from the chamber and prepared for the injection of pure saturated steam.

TREATMENT

Pure saturated steam is injected at the programmed temperature for between 1–20 minutes, thus avoiding the excessive penetration of steam and humidity.

The temperature of the treatment may vary from 65°C (disinfection) to 121°C (sterilization) depending on the initial microbial charge and the clients’ requirements.

DRYING

Drying begins once the injected steam is extracted and the product is treated at a low temperature.

The Organic Sterilization System (OSS) is a 100% natural method used to eliminate pathogens and reduce the microbial charge of natural products. The OSS offers three treatment methods:

DISINFECTION

Insect larvae and eggs are eliminated at an approximate temperature of 65°C.

PASTURIZATION

Coliform, fungi, yeast, E. coli, and salmonella, etc. are removed and the overall aerobic charge is reduced at a temperature of 105°C

STERILIZATION

Heat-resistant spores are eliminated at a temperature of 121°C.

We can process whole, crushed and even powdered products.

The Organic Sterilization System (OSS) can treat almost any type of medicinal plants, leaves, wood, bark, grains, cereals, seeds, condiments, spices, roots, tubers and other whole, crushed and even powdered vegetables. Some examples of our product lines include:
